Radionuclide Ward Officially Launched at Xuguan Campus of Suzhou Nuclear Industry General Hospital under CNNC Medical
On September 3, the radionuclide ward of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the Xuguan Campus of Suzhou Nuclear Industry General Hospital, affiliated with CNNC Medical, was officially inaugurated and put into operation. The ward addresses the standardized radionuclide therapy needs of patients with tumors, thyroid diseases, and endocrine disorders, providing inpatient treatment services with isolation and protection conditions.

According to reports, the newly launched radionuclide ward is equipped with radiation protection facilities and intelligent monitoring systems, enabling fully enclosed ward management, treatment process monitoring, and multi-level protection. Following the ward's commissioning, the Nuclear Medicine Department will expand from its previous examination-focused service model into a closed-loop service chain integrating radionuclide diagnosis, drug therapy, isolated hospitalization, and research follow-up, enhancing its capacity to manage complex and critically ill patients and improving treatment safety.
At the inauguration ceremony, hospital officials stated that the operation of the radionuclide ward must uphold the bottom lines of patient safety and radiation protection, strictly implementing standardized management across the entire process of radionuclide therapy admission, medication administration, monitoring, and discharge. Meanwhile, leveraging the new ward and drug preparation platform, efforts will be made to strengthen technical development and talent cultivation to enhance radionuclide therapy capabilities. In service delivery, a patient-centered approach will be maintained to improve the treatment and hospitalization experience.
Operating in parallel with the radionuclide ward are the radiopharmaceutical preparation module, specialized experimental research platforms, and a cyclotron. These platforms can be used to independently produce a variety of novel positron tracers and radionuclides, providing drug support for clinical diagnosis and treatment, as well as backing for new drug development, molecular imaging research, and clinical translation.
Following the launch of this radionuclide ward, patients requiring radioactive iodine-131 therapy or radionuclide drug conjugate (RDC) treatments can receive inpatient conditions meeting radiation protection requirements within the hospital. CNNC Medical stated that it will continue to support Suzhou Nuclear Industry General Hospital in advancing the standardization, precision, and humanization of radionuclide therapy, improving the nuclear-specialized discipline system, and strengthening nuclear medicine capabilities in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and research translation.
