Korea Holds Briefing Session on Bidding for Auxiliary Equipment for Czech Dukovany Nuclear Power Project

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) officially held the “Briefing Session on Bidding for Auxiliary Equipment for the Czech Dukovany Nuclear Power Project” on September 30 at the Radiation Health Institute in Seoul. As the Czech Dukovany new Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project has fully transitioned from the preliminary supplier qualification and registration stage to the substantive bidding and equipment procurement stage, this briefing session was aimed at providing comprehensive guidance and support for Korean domestic equipment manufacturers to participate in the bidding.

The meeting attracted representatives from approximately 130 Balance of Plant (BOP) manufacturers that have completed KHNP qualified supplier admission certification or are in the qualification review stage. Participating companies focused on the bidding technical thresholds and commercial details for electrical, HVAC, pump-valve-piping, and auxiliary packaged equipment outside the main nuclear process.

At the briefing session, the KHNP procurement team systematically explained the subsequent bidding schedule for auxiliary equipment, the operating procedures of the Czech nuclear power-dedicated e-commerce transaction system, the contractor nuclear Quality Assurance (QA) control plan, and the core commercial terms and technical evaluation weights. Through this upfront clarification of rules, KHNP assisted interested suppliers in precisely aligning with the strict nuclear safety engineering standards and bidding compliance requirements of the Czech Republic and even the European Union.

In addition, experts from the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Trade Comprehensive Support Center of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) also participated in this exchange, systematically explaining to potential overseas-expanding enterprises the FTA rules of origin and customs clearance compliance management for the European market. This measure not only helps enterprises control international trade and certificate of origin risks, but also further enhances the comprehensive cross-border export fulfillment competitiveness of the domestic supply chain.

Choi Ilkyung, Head of KHNP's Business General Headquarters, emphasized in his remarks that the successful fulfillment of the Czech Dukovany nuclear power project cannot be achieved without the collaborative participation of domestic supply chain enterprises with strong manufacturing technology and rich delivery experience. He stated that KHNP will spare no effort in building overseas channels for domestic equipment enterprises, and will take this briefing session as an opportunity to assist manufacturers in seizing project orders and jointly exploring a broader global nuclear power market.

KHNP will continue to ensure the smooth advancement of the Czech nuclear energy project milestones while strengthening the systematic competitiveness of Korea's domestic nuclear industry manufacturing ecosystem, and will continue to deepen collaborative win-win cooperation with various equipment enterprises through the large-scale team overseas model.
