The East China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment convenes the 2026 East China Regional Nuclear Facility Safety Work Conference

Recently, the East China Nuclear and Radiation Safety Supervision Station of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (hereinafter referred to as the East China Supervision Station) organized the 2026 East China Regional Nuclear Facility Safety Work Conference in Jiujiang, Jiangxi. Four nuclear power joint-stock companies and nuclear facility operating organizations within the East China jurisdiction sent personnel to attend.

The conference adhered to a "problem-oriented and pragmatic-first" approach. The East China Supervision Station organized participants to study the latest decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee on nuclear safety work, and, in light of the safety and quality conditions and important typical problems of nuclear facilities in East China in the first three quarters of 2026, proposed ideas for further improving nuclear facility safety work. The operating organizations delivered thematic presentations and conducted exchange discussions on core topics such as contractor management, fuel management, and identification of and response to extreme weather risks.

The conference emphasized that all units must adhere to bottom-line thinking and worst-case thinking, remain vigilant in times of peace and prepare for rainy days, and identify and resolve all types of risks before they emerge; they must always maintain reverence for nuclear safety, fully recognize the problems and shortcomings in current nuclear safety work, and take effective measures to respond prudently. First, strictly control the entire contractor process and build a management system with clear rights and responsibilities and unified standards; second, deepen full-lifecycle fuel management for nuclear facilities and continuously improve operational safety and reliability; third, build a solid nuclear safety defense line against extreme weather and ensure the safe and stable operation of nuclear facilities with a state of constant readiness.
