Blykalla Establishes Advanced Nuclear Reactor Technology Center in Austin
Advanced nuclear technology company Blykalla announced it will establish a new technology center in Austin, Texas, to expand its engineering and reactor R&D operations in the United States. Located at 801 Barton Springs Road in Austin, the center will house engineering and reactor development teams to strengthen the company's local operations and advance collaboration with its U.S. partners, regulators, and stakeholders in the clean energy industry.

Blykalla stated that the Austin technology center will serve as its U.S. hub for engineering and advanced nuclear reactor R&D. The company currently operates two complementary business centers in the U.S.—Austin and New York: Austin focuses on technology R&D and engineering capability building, while the New York office continues to serve as the U.S. headquarters, handling strategic partnerships, regulatory affairs, and commercial deployment functions.
Blykalla CEO Jacob Stedman stated that demand for advanced modular reactors capable of providing clean baseload power is growing in the U.S. market, and that the company's lead-cooled reactor technology offers advantages in deployment speed, safety, and siting flexibility, enabling energy solutions for industrial users and data center operators.
Blykalla is advancing SEALER, a small modular reactor (SMR) that utilizes lead-cooling technology. The company states that its proprietary patented aluminum-alloy steel material addresses corrosion issues in liquid lead systems, supporting the commercial deployment of lead-cooled fast reactors.
According to the company's plans, its U.S. business will focus on energy-intensive industries, data centers, and AI-related infrastructure, providing high-temperature heat, flexible power supply, and safer energy solutions. As advanced nuclear project development continues to progress in the U.S., Blykalla plans to further accelerate deployment timelines and expand communication and collaboration with U.S. customers and regulators.
