World Nuclear Industry Status Report: The Global "Nuclear Renaissance" Is in Fact "Single-Engine Driven by China," with Regions Outside China in "Substantial Stagnation"
Recently, the latest edition of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report (WNISR), led by independent energy analyst Mycle Schneider, pointed out in its analysis: the so-called global nuclear renaissance is in essence a localized expansion driven by a single engine—China; if China's strong engineering momentum is stripped away, nuclear power in the rest of the world is in a state of structural substantial stagnation and slight contraction. The report notes: as the global nuclear industry remains mired in delays and cost overruns, a wave of retirements of aging units, and the paper-only commercialization of small reactors, China has become the unquestionable absolute driving force of the global nuclear power industry...

US PPPL Reconstructs 70-Year-Old Lawson Criterion, Proposes New Fusion Ignition Pathway of "Heat First, Fuel Later"
The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), under the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), released its latest findings on October 5. Laboratory physicists have reconstructed the classic Lawson criterion that has been in use for over 70 years and published the results in Physical Review Letters. The research team integrated four real-world physics effects that were previously treated separately into a unified model, mapping out an entirely new fusion ignition topography. The study shows that adopting a pathway of first heating the plasma and then increasing fuel density can achieve the ignition conditions for self-sustaining burn with far less energy consumption than traditional pathways. For over 70 years, the nuclear fusion field has relied on...

The Supply-Demand Fault Line Beneath the Boom: Can the Uranium Mining Industry Support the Global Nuclear Renaissance?
Driven by the explosive electricity demand of global AI data centers and the COP commitment to triple nuclear power capacity, nuclear energy is ushering in the most certain renaissance in half a century. However, behind the capital market's frenzied pursuit of nuclear power concept stocks and commodities, the core raw material upstream in the nuclear power industrial chain—uranium mining and nuclear fuel processing—is facing severe constraints from insufficient production capacity elasticity, lengthy development cycles, and geopolitical fragmentation. The optimistic signals recently released by renowned Wall Street asset management institution Sprott certainly reflect the momentum of capital return, but upon closer examination of its supply-demand fundamentals and technical barriers, whether the uranium mining industry can timely and smoothly support this wave of nuclear power infrastructure construction still requires a huge question mark.

German Research Team Completes First Phase Analysis of Chernobyl "Hot Particles": Nuclear Fuel Crystal Structure Still Exhibits Unexpectedly High Chemical Stability After 40 Years
Nearly 40 years after the 1986 Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident, a research team from Leibniz University Hannover and Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in Germany has completed the world's first synchrotron radiation X-ray-based precision crystal phase analysis of 6 micron-sized highly radioactive fragments (commonly known in the industry as Hot Particles) ejected from the destroyed reactor. The related breakthrough research findings have been officially published in the top-tier journal in environmental and radioecology, the Journal of Hazardous Materials.

Indiana Launches "Nuclear Ready Communities Program" Applications: Promoting Clean Nuclear Energy Investment to Empower High-Tech Industry Development
Indiana Governor Mike Braun officially announced on Tuesday local time the opening of the application channel for the state's Nuclear Ready Communities Program. The policy aims to guide and assist local municipalities across the Hoosier State in establishing readiness mechanisms to accept advanced clean energy investment, attracting large nuclear power developers to locate there through upfront assessment and certification. Indiana officials position civilian nuclear energy as a core engine for driving future high-tech industry investment, building a resilient power grid, and providing local communities with low-cost, highly reliable electricity. As data centers...

Polish government adopts "updated nuclear power programme" to build 6-9 GW of nuclear capacity
On 5 October 2026, the Polish government formally adopted an updated nuclear power programme, confirming the construction of two large nuclear power plants with a target capacity of approximately 6 to 9 GW. The first plant, Lubiatowo-Kopalino, is located in Pomerania Province in northern Poland along the Baltic Sea coast and will use three Westinghouse AP1000 units. The first nuclear concrete pour is planned for 2028, and the three units are scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2036, 2037 and 2038 respectively, later than under the 2020 version, though the interval between units has been shortened from two years to one year. It is understood that the project has moved from the preparatory stage to the implementation stage, with the state-owned project company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe...

Google Plans to Sign Over $1 Billion Long-Term Power Purchase Agreement with Constellation Energy: Locking in Existing Nuclear Baseload to Support AI Computing Expansion
Recently, Google's parent company Alphabet (Alphabet Inc., Nasdaq: GOOGL) is nearing a multi-year nuclear power purchase agreement with Constellation Energy. Google will pay $1 billion or more, and the agreement could be announced as early as this week. It is understood that this potential agreement comes as the massive electricity demand driven by the artificial intelligence boom is reigniting interest in nuclear energy, which can provide emissions-free power around the clock. Recently reached agreements have mainly focused on existing nuclear facilities, because permitting and construction of new reactors can take more than a decade, while next-generation fission technology still requires years before large-scale deployment. This news follows Amazon...

The Qualitative Leap from "Able to Build" to "Adept at Building": An In-Depth Analysis of the Technological Breakthrough and Industrial Restructuring of the "Hualong One Version 2.0"
In September 2026, with the convening of the high-quality commencement mobilization meeting for the first batch of demonstration projects—the Phase II project of Zhejiang Jinqimen Nuclear Power Plant—and the full-scale launch of site leveling and excavation work, Hualong One Version 2.0 officially sounded the clarion call for its march from technological R&D to engineering practice. As a third-generation pressurized water reactor nuclear power model with fully independent intellectual property rights, Hualong One has undergone a decade of tempering, with 12 units in commercial operation and 35 units approved for construction, bringing the total number of units to the top of the world's third-generation nuclear power rankings and making it a globally shining national calling card. However, as nuclear power powers in Europe and America find themselves mired in supply chain degradation, runaway construction schedules, and investment black holes, and as the global small modular reactor (SMR) concept remains stuck in the tug-of-war between PowerPoint presentations and early-stage demonstrations...
