World's First 250,000 Tonne-Meter Ring Crane Rolls Off Production Line, Supporting Hualong One 2.0 Nuclear Power Construction
On August 31, the world's first 250,000 tonne-meter ring crane, jointly developed by SANY Heavy Lift and China Energy Engineering Group Guangdong Thermal Power & Litte Company, rolled off the production line at SANY's Huzhou Industrial Park in Zhejiang. Designed for the "one crane, two islands" construction requirements of Hualong One 2.0, the equipment can address the engineering challenge of covering module hoisting for two nuclear islands with a single unit, marking a key domestic localization breakthrough in China's ultra-large-tonnage nuclear power hoisting equipment. With the advancement of the Hualong One 2.0 "one crane, two islands" construction method, nuclear power projects have imposed higher requirements on the working radius, load capacity, and hoisting precision of heavy lifting equipment. In the past, related high-end equipment technology was long controlled by a few overseas companies. The 250,000 tonne-meter ring crane rolled off the production line this time has undergone seven years of technical research, achieving breakthroughs in structural design, manufacturing processes, and assembly control.

Russia's Kola NPP Completes 2026 Maintenance Program
Unit 2 of Russia's Kola Nuclear Power Plant was reconnected to the grid at 15:58 Moscow time on August 31, 2026, following the completion of scheduled preventive maintenance and partial modernization. This marked the conclusion of the plant's 2026 maintenance program. It was also the first time since the plant's commissioning that the annual maintenance plan was completed during the summer season. The maintenance of Unit 2 lasted 29.5 days. During this period, plant personnel and contractors performed medium repairs and related maintenance on key equipment, covering multiple areas including the reactor building, turbine hall, and electrical systems. In the reactor building, the scope of work included major repairs of some steam generators, main circulation pumps, and primary circuit piping, as well as nuclear fuel reloading, reactor assembly disassembly, and in-vessel component maintenance. In the turbine hall, workers completed repairs of the turbine-generator unit, circulation pumps, low-pressure heaters, and moisture separator reheaters. The electrical scope included repairs of transformers and diesel generators.

Prostate cancer becomes most common cancer among men in South Korea, Lu-177 PSMA therapy reaches cumulative 200 procedures
Prostate cancer incidence in South Korea has continued to rise, making it the most common cancer among men in the country. Meanwhile, a novel nuclear medicine treatment for metastatic prostate cancer—Lutetium-177 (Lu-177) prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) radioligand therapy—is accumulating more clinical cases. Seoul St. Mary's Hospital Uro-Oncology Center stated on September 1 that since performing South Korea's first Lu-177 PSMA treatment on November 2, 2020, the center had administered a cumulative total of 200 such treatments to 84 patients with metastatic prostate cancer as of the 21st of last month. Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer refers to a state in which prostate cancer continues to progress despite androgen suppression therapy. As the disease advances, patients have fewer treatment options and a worse prognosis, making it essential to select appropriate treatment modalities and sequencing based on prior treatment history and physical condition.
