Rwanda Plans to Achieve Its First 110 MW Nuclear Power Generation Target by 2033
Rwanda's Minister of Infrastructure, Damien Murwanashyaka, disclosed this on Tuesday, September 22, while attending a meeting of the Senate Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs to discuss the government's initiatives to increase electricity access. Committee Chairperson Fulgence Nsengiyumva said the committee inspected electricity consumers and project sites to assess government planning, power capacity, efforts to promote off-grid energy, and the role of the private sector in increasing electricity access. Murwanashyaka said Rwanda is advancing the various procedures needed to build nuclear power facilities, including obtaining international certification and identifying suitable sites. As the Rwandan government works to expand national power generation capacity, Rwanda is expected to begin using nuclear energy to generate 110 megawatts of electricity between 2030 and 2033.

Unit 1 of Japan's Ikata Nuclear Power Plant Enters the Second Phase of Decommissioning
The Ikata Town Assembly formally passed a resolution on September 17, determining that the plan to advance the decommissioning work of Unit 1 to the next phase starting from the next fiscal year is "appropriate." It is understood that Shikoku Electric Power Company has divided the decommissioning work of Unit 1 at the Ikata Nuclear Power Plant into four phased processes to be carried out in an orderly manner. In July of this year, the company obtained official approval from Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority to commence the second-phase decommissioning plan, which includes the dismantling of equipment surrounding the reactor. According to relevant regulatory and local agreement requirements, the transition of decommissioning work to the second phase must obtain the understanding and consent of the local autonomous body. To this end, the Ikata Town Assembly specifically established a Special Committee on Nuclear Power Generation Countermeasures...

FDA Grants 510(k) Clearance to Emboliner System for TAVR Procedures
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Emboliner, a cardiac protection system from Emboline, for percutaneous coronary intervention (TAVR) and other cardiac procedures. The device is designed to capture and remove embolic material generated during TAVR, protecting vital organs such as the brain and kidneys. The Emboliner system uses a dual-layer annular filter to cover the brain and systemic arteries, designed to intercept and clear debris generated during TAVR procedures. Unlike other embolic protection devices that only shield selected cerebral vessels, this design allows the central lumen of the TAVR delivery system to pass through the filter, effectively enhancing the scope of protection. The FDA's decision follows a comprehensive clinical evaluation of Embol...
